Suggestion for purchase of material by the academic staff

The academic staff may suggest the purchase of books, periodicals, etc. and access to online sources, provided that the suggestion has been approved and signed by the Department’s president or person responsible for Library matters. Without prior approval, the academic staff may not purchase books or other material on behalf of the Library and then request reimbursement.

The suggestion, approved by the Department, must be handed in or mailed to:

Journals (print and online) / Databases

Requests for the ordering of journals are accepted by the Library throughout the year. However, they are forwarded to publishers/suppliers twice a year:

  1. In October for subscriptions starting the following January (requests to the Library must be made before October).
  2. In March for additional orders of the current year, the requests of which reached the Library after October of the previous calendar year. Access to these subscriptions will be granted after March and will start from January of the current year.

Purchases of printed books and A/V material from the academic staff’s initial funding 

Purchases of printed books and A/V material from the academic staff’s initial funding must be made by the Library’s Acquisitions Office. For effective control of the procedure, the Library is responsible for the requested purchases. Academic staff wishing to hold the material in their office may check it out once it has been received and catalogued for as long as they consider necessary.
