Please be informed that a new service, OpenAthens, will soon be used to access the Library’s licensed electronic resources . OpenAthens is an authentication and electronic access management system that allows users to access publisher content with their UCY credentials. We will soon share more information on the use of OpenAthens and the changes that may occur to the current system of accessing the electronic resources of the Library. Meanwhile, both VPN and OpenAthens can be used for accessing the Library resources remotely. We would like to inform you that on 19 December, from 09:30 to 13:30 maintenance of the Library system will take place. During this period you may be: Unable to access the Library catalogue. Unable to access your personal library account “My Library”. The Self-Checkout/Check-in Stations will be temporarily deactivated. Unable to make electronic payment of fines. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

On Saturday 01/10/2022 the Library will be closed due to public holiday. The 24/7 Reading Room remains open, even on public holidays.

Springer Nature publisher is organizing an online author workshop titled: “How to write and publish scientific articles”. The workshop will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2022  11:00 am – 12:00 am EEST/ Cyprus time. To attend the workshop a registration is needed.

We would like to inform you that on Friday, 9 September 2022, 18:00 - 19:00,  the President of the European Parliament, Ms Roberta Metsola, representatives of the European Parliament of Cyprus and the President of the House of Representatives, Ms Annita Demetriou, will visit the Learning Resource Center - Library "Stelios Ioannou" of the University of Cyprus in order to discuss with students on the subject: A look into the future. The Library will be closed from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 August 2022 inclusive. The 24/7 Reading Room will remain open.

As of July 8th 2022, following the decision of the Republic of Cyprus Government for the reintroduction of the measure for the mandatory use of a protective mask indoors and in closed spaces, so as to stop the spread of coronavirus in Cyprus, all users over 12 years of age must wear protective face masks when at the Library premises.
